FREE ADMISSION
In 2005, the renowned architect, I.M. Pei, came out of retirement at
the age of 88 to design his last major cultural building –
The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) in Doha, Qatar. In celebration of the
fifth anniversary of the museum's opening, we invite you to Radiant,
the first contemporary photographic exhibition to be held at MIA.
The images featured in Radiant are an insightful meditation on the physical spaces
of MIA. Using an old photo engraving method called photogravure,
German photographer, Antje Hanebeck interprets various facets of I.M. Pei’s
design through a nostalgic visual experience of atmosphere, light and shadow.
The choice of images and presentation reflects MIA’s blend of modern architecture
and ancient treasures, shedding light on the many links between the past and the present.
